October 3, 10-11:30AM: HEAL OUR CHURCH VIRTUAL MEETING

YES, WE SHALL BE HEARD!

Dear Friends and Supporters:

In this period of institutional crises, Heal Our Church (healourchurch.org/) is calling for a laity-led, cooperative Truth and Reconciliation Commission in our archdiocese to address both the ‘how and why’ of the ongoing clergy sexual abuse scandal is as well as concerns surrounding inclusivity and clericalism raised by many Catholics. To date, the Archbishop has refused to meet with us–even in the light of strong support from prominent Catholics in our community.

This is a time of great stress and many challenges, but our meeting on October 3 will be focused on the positive. Our commitment to the central tenets of HOC are undiminished; instead are reaffirmed and strengthened by the Archbishop closing the door to collaboration and our sincere efforts to facilitate healing at a time in our history when we need our Church more than ever to be just, inclusive and nurturing. We, the laity, are the Body of Christ, and we need you to be part of our efforts.

Our meeting will be moderated by John McKay, former U.S. Attorney, Western District of Washington and feature: - Anne Barrett Doyle, Director, BishopAccountability.org - Colleen Kinerk, Prominent Seattle Attorney - Judge Terrence Carroll, Ret.

Please join us, and please share this invitation with one, five, ten, twenty or however many of your like-minded friends and loved ones and encourage them to read our materials at healourchurch.org and sign up for our meeting, below. A more detailed letter will follow shortly.

Yours in Christ ,

Heal Our Church
